Plot
Dawson and Joey begin the cliffhanger show with a hilarious discussion about TV cliffhangers. Grams speaks to Gramps who is still in a coma. While Jen talks to her, Gramps suddenly starts moving. At school, Joey announces that she was asked to go to Paris on a scholarship and has two days to decide whether to go.
At the Icehouse, Bessie tells Joey she has to visit their father at the prison for his birthday. Joey goes with Dawson but they miss visiting hours and spend the night at a motel. Dawson is still unsure about his relationship with Joey. The next day, Joey is unable to talk to her father because of her anger towards him and leaves. Dawson stays and tells Joey's dad what she's like. Jen find out that Gramps has had another stroke. She asks to spend the night at Dawson's house and he agrees. Pacey, upset after a talk with Doug about his life of disappointment, goes to the Icehouse to talk to Joey. In the conversation, Pacey eventually convinces Joey to go back to talk to her father, offering to drive. After Pacey bribes the guard, Joey talks to her dad. She tells her father that he messed up and tells him how bad she's feeling. He convinces her that Dawson loves her and that she should pursue the relationship.
Following his advice, Joey rows over the next morning to tell Dawson how she feels about him. She sees him in bed with Jen just as Jen is giving him a kiss on the cheek. She runs out and Dawson chases after her. Jen leaves and finds out Gramps has died. She and Grams go to the church to cry and to pray. Dawson returns home and finds Joey in his closet. They agree to be honest with each other and she asks him if he is ready for everything that comes with being honest. As she finally moves to leave, Dawson runs to her and kisses her. They are seen kissing wildly as the scene fades out for the summer.

Great Lines
Dawson: She's great. I mean she's smart, she's beautiful, she's funny, she's a big ol' scardy cat... if you creep up from behind her, she'll jump out of her skin; it's pretty amusing... Um, she's honest... she always
calls them just like she sees them. You can always count on getting the truth from Joey, even if the truth hurts. She's stubborn, we fight a lot. She can be so frustrating sometimes, but she's a really, really good friend. And loyal to a fault. She believes in me, and I'm a dreamer, so it's so good to have somebody like that in my life. If she goes away, I don't know what I'm going to do.
Joey: Do you really love me though, because I'm 15 years old and I go through everyday of my life thinking nobody loves me.
Joey: Yeah, but just like in our own lives, they are so predictable. I mean, the producers put the characters in some contrived situation, hoping that the audience will think something is going to change. But you know what? It never does. It's back to the same way it was before your so called cliff-hanger. It's boring, Dawson.
Joey: Give me one good reason why I should stay. Give me one straight-forward, non-analytical reason why I should stay... I thought so.
Doug: One day you're going to be tired of being a joke and it's going to be too late.
Bessie: Joey, he is still our father.
Joey: Yeah, Our father who art in prison.
