Plot
Joey complains to Dawson about having to kiss Pacey as written in the script of Dawson's movie for the film festival, but Dawson insists it's an integral part of the film. Dawson finally yields and rewrites the script so Joey is killed off and Jen kisses Pacey instead. Heading into Dawson's house to get "killed," Joey eavesdrops on Dawson practicing a kiss on a dummy head of herself. She imagines Dawson kissing her rather than the head. Joey then catches Mrs. Leery talking to Bob, her co-anchor, on the phone and Joey confronts Gail.
The scene with Joey getting killed gets shot. Jen helps Joey clean the fake blood off of her and compliments Joey's body in an attempt to become friends with Joey. The filming of Pacey kissing Jen annoys Dawson who cuts the scene out of the movie. Jen and Pacey leave for the school dance. Jen has a date with Cliff and Pacey leaves to stalk Tamara. Dawson convinces Mr. Gold to let him sit in film class unofficially by using the period as a study period. However, it annoys Dawson that Cliff is leading the class in making a football movie, Helmets of Glory, for Dawson feels the movie is stupid.
Dawson whines to Joey about Jen's date with Cliff then goes off to the dance to hunt down Jen, taking Joey along. Before leaving, Joey confronts Gail about her affair with Bob and Joey expresses her opposition to it. Meanwhile, Pacey keeps bothering Tamara at school. He asks if their relationship would be different if there wasn't the age difference but Tamara ignores him. When they meet at the docks, they agree to have a teacher/student relationship, but end up in a long kiss.
At the dance, Dawson explains to Joey why he likes Jen so much. He finds Jen and has a confrontation with Cliff, scaring Jen who runs off. Joey leaves the dance too and wishes Dawson good luck in getting his kiss with Jen. On the way home, Dawson finds Jen and the two talk and dance on the pier. Jen tells Dawson that she doesn't want to rush the relationship.

Great Lines
Dawson: Cliff. Cliff Elliott. What's that about?
I don't get it. How could she be attracted to him? What's he got that I don't got?
Joey: Well, we could start with his chest measurements and work down.
Dawson: I don't get it! I don't get it, what did he do that I didn't do?
Joey: He asked her out!
Dawson: At this very moment they're slow dancing.
Her arms are wrapped around his waist and they're moving to some stupid cheesy 80's song, and he's whispering things into her ear to make her giggle and toss her hair off to the side. Every once in a while their eyes meet and they shift awkwardly because they know it's all coming down to that one moment at the end of the night where he leans over and tells her what a great time he's had. He asks her if they can do it again, and she just smiles in that sexy, teasing way that she has, it's not really teasing, but just sexy, and says, "I'd like that." And then their lips meet. Their mouths come together. Their tongues find each other, I... aauugghh! I can't take it.
Joey: Yeah, I'm going to get killed today.
Gail: Oh, that's nice. Ah, be careful out in the sun. It's hot today. Wear sunblock.
Pacey: I may just be fifteen, but I'm well beyond the age of accountability. Maybe not within the confines of the judicial system, but for me.
Stupid Jen Lines
-
"My body's a mess. I'm too short, my hips do this weird thing and my face is shaped like a duck. Oh, and I hate my breasts." -- I don't think Jen's ever made a comment more on target in her life. Joey shouldn't have argued with her.

-
"Joey, I love your breasts. I mean don't get me wrong... I am totally hetero, you just have a really nice body." -- I don't think anything more has to be said... (Submitted by Tanya Maria)
-
"It's normal right, to hate the way you look?" -- Nope it's you. And believe us, you have reason to!
(Submitted by Nick Brendon)
-
"I'm rhythmically challenged." --Cliff
"Prove it." -- As if you
haven't ruined everyone else's lives, now you have to make a fool out of Cliff.
(Submitted by Nick Brendon)
-
"I wish I had your stature." -- Actually, you just wish you were Joey so you could be closer to Dawson.
(Submitted by Nick Brendon)
-
"Joey, I plan to make it really hard for you not to like me." -- Too late.
-
"I'm really a cliche, Dawson." -- Shouldn't you tell him that you're really a slut?
