Plot

Dawson and Joey find a tape of Pacey having sex with Tamara. Dawson had left his camera running while hiding in the bushes during A Prelude to a Kiss. Pacey is desperate to get the tape and confides to Dawson about his relationship with Tamara. Pacey become jealous, however, when Tamara begins spending a lot of time with the film teacher, Mr. Gold. He is shocked and relieved, however, when Tamara tells Pacey that Mr. Gold is gay. Grams pleads with Jen not to make the same mistakes she made in New York by moving too quickly in her relationship with Dawson.

Meanwhile, Dawson and Joey go off to find Dawson's parents a gift for their twentieth aniversary. Dawson finds out about his mother's affair with Bob when he sees the two kissing at work while he is editting some scenes with Jen for his movie. He wants to tell his father but is unable to. Turning to Joey, he feels betrayed when Joey admits she knew about the affair. Dawson claims to end their friendship and turns to Jen. Jen is glad Dawson trusts her and tells Dawson about her past in New York with multiple sexual partners which leaves Dawson speechless. Jen talks with Joey about her situation while Dawson talks to Pacey. The episode ends with Dawson and Joey discussing the future of their changing friendship.

Great Lines

Jen: I need some advice.
Joey: And what field do you consider me an expert in?
Jen: Dawson Leery.
Joey: You know, I'm sorta busy here, these receipts and locking up. Maybe we could, uh, do this another time?
Jen: I told him I wasn't a virgin.
Joey: I think I have a minute.

Joey: When it comes to women, there are popes who have had more experience. I mean the guy was a shrimp until last summer. To say his sex life is limited is the understatement of the decade. It's barren. A desert. I don't envy what you have to deal with, believe me.
Jen: You're not trying to scare me off are you?
Joey: No. I'm just trying to tell you that every guy who grows up to be one of the good ones? He was probably a Dewey with girls when he was fifteen too.

Pacey: Hey Dawson, don't forget man, I wanna see that tape!
Joey: Pervert.
Pacey: Prude.

Joey: Blonde isn't giving you any? I thought that by now you would of...
Dawson: You're real romantic, aren't you, Joey?

Dawson: I don't think there currently exists a word to describe my reaction.

Dawson: What I was going to say before this whole, "world according to Pacey" speech is that this has nothing to do with some stupid "in" or even getting Jen in the sack. It has to do with one thing.
Pacey: Right, the fact that you are scared.

Dawson: I'm mad at the world, Joey. I'm a teenager.

Tamara: Yes, apparently in your extensive research, you failed to detect that I'm not exactly Benji's type.
Pacey: No?
Tamara: Not unless you think I bear some resemblance to Mel Gibson.
Pacey: Mr. Gold is gay?!

Stupid Jen Lines

  • "I told him I wasn't a virgin." -- Well, I think you should be honest and not soliciting advice. You should have told him the truth from the beginning, liar. (Submitted by OEOEOEOAOEOEOEOA)
  • "Someone once said that the more a person talks about it the worst they are at it." -- No wonder you're always blabbing away.
  • "Repressing desire can only make it more powerful." -- Well, considering that you never repressed it, how would you know?
  • "Grams, I'm bored of this, the way we talk to each other." -- So what, you're going to go out and hump someone?
  • "Don't you think that in certain situations there are things that people just don't want to know?" -- Um, is this just an excuse for your lies? Couldn't you come up with something better?
  • "The only thing I can help [Grams] with is staying out of her way." -- But you prefer to annoy her.
  • "You're right, we should be honest and you should know who you're dating." -- I don't sense anyone being hipocritical.
