Plot

Dawson begins the episode angry at his mother and Bob. Because a hurricane is approaching Capeside, Joey helps Bessie and Bodie secure the house and the three decide to wait out the storm at Dawson's house. Jen and Grams decide to do the same. The storm goes full blast and tensions run high. Dawson gets in a argument with Jen about her impurities. Grams gets in an argument with Bessie and Body about their interracial relationship and their baby which will be born out of wedlock. Bessie insists that the baby will be loved. Joey, sitting in Dawson's closet, reminds Dawson and how they used to play out scenes from Jaws in the closet. But Dawson is self-absorbed with everything that has been going on with his mom. This causes Joey, whose mother died of cancer, to get angry and she reminds Dawson how lucky he is to even have a mother.

Mitch and Gail have a full-blown argument about Gail's affair with Bob and Mitch goes out to sit in the car. Gail tells Joey that she plans to end the affair but Joey is still bitter toward her and goes outside to sit on the steps to watch Mr. Leery. Meanwhile, Pacey and his brother Doug are stranded at Tamara's house. Doug and Tamara really seem to hit it off and Pacey angers Doug when he tells Tamara that Doug is gay and Doug pulls out a gun. Back at the Leery's, Jen and Joey have a talk about Dawson's behavior. Dawson apologizes to both Jen and Joey for his behavior and explains he is just angry at his mother.

Great Lines

Gail: I guess I f-.... this is really f-... every sentence that comes to mind ends with the f-word.
Joey: Well, don't hold back on my account, I've heard it.
Gail: I'm an adult, Joey. I'm supposed to set an example.
Joey: I'd stick to the f-word if I were you.

Dawson: God, could they be any more obvious? So Gail, what did you do in the current situation in Bosnia? Will you be jumping my bones after the broadcast?

Dawson: Is the proposition of monogamy such a Jurassic notion? I mean is it no longer reasonable to think that two people can be enough for each other for their entire lives?
Jen: I... I don't know.
Dawson: Maybe it's chemical. Maybe there's some kind of hormonal imbalance that causes one to fornicate with their co-workers. Maybe it's not just Bob; maybe it extends to the whole 6 and 11 action news team.

Dawson: Joey, I owe you an apology. I have been thoughtless and insensitive and self-obsessive to the extreme, but if you give me a chance to rectify my beligerent ways, I promise I will make every effort to be a friend worthy of you.
Joey: Well, that was a mouthful. I'm sorry for using the mother card. I keep it in my back pocket and it's way too easy. I shouldn't have done that.
Dawson: Jo, I don't know what I would do if I lost my mother.
Joey: It hurts, Dawson. I mean, you're born and you die and you make a lot of mistakes in-between. Funny thing is, you know, now that she's gone, I can't seem to remember a single mistake.
Dawson: What can I do for you, Joey? I wanna be a good friend, what can I do?
Joey: Well, just for tonight can we put our rapid ascent into adulthood on hold? Please?

Dawson: I have two parents that bump like rabbits everyday. Apparently dad couldn't keep up with mom, just said hey!

Stupid Jen Lines

  • "You better clarify yourself before I rip your head off." -- First of all, I would like to see you try and secondly, I think he was pretty clear in implying that you were a slut. No clarification needed. (Submitted by Christina Marks)
  • "Do you think he has a rifle or a pistol?" -- Geez, that's frank! Seems a little rude too. Maybe it's just because I'm a guy...
  • "I was sexualized way too young." -- Gee, poor you. Does she ever stop whining? (Submitted by Ali James)
  • "Oh Grams, I forgot to tell you, the Lord sent a fax while you were out. Something about the Armageddon." -- Let's just say Jen's a little ruder to Grams than I am to my grandmother.
  • "I... I don't know -- We know that you do not know anything. (Submitted by Mrs.P.Mosh)
  • "Daddy's little girl, fornicating right before his very eyes." -- You are a bastard in your parents' bed and you did not want them to see you. You are a stupid bitch duck.
