[Episode Transcript]

Goofs

Appearance

  • Mrs. Leery's hair slowly gets darker through the episode.
  • When Jen and Joey are talking outside, when the camera is on Joey, you can see Jen's hand by her hair, but when the camera switches to Jen, her hands are by her side.

Continuity

  • After Dawson finds Joey in his closet, Joey sarcastically tells him that reciting movies is one of those things they can't do any more, like sleeping over in the same bed. In fact, it was Joey who told Dawson that they shouldn't be sleeping in the same bed now that they're in high school, and not the other way round.
  • When Jen and Dawson are arguing in his room the closet doors are slightly ajar but when he discovers Joey he opens the doors from a fully closed position

Timeline

  • The weatherman announces that school has been cancelled the next day but don't Joey and Dawson watch movies Saturday nights?

Incorrect

  • Isn't it a little odd that Grams and Jen just picked up and left Gramps to fend for himself during the hurricane?
  • They say where he is. Dawson says, "Hey. I heard your Grandfather's back in the hospital, I'm sorry."

(Submissions by Joy, Hoochie, CrazyGirl38)

Notes

  • You may notice Joey playing with a lighter and a cigarette handed to her by Jen while the two are talking on the porch. The duo was supposed to have a girl-to-girl talk over a cigarette, but the smoking part was cut out.
  • The weather report shown on the TV at Dawson's house shows a man on a bridge. That's the show's director.
  • Although this episode was originally titled after the movie Blown Away, it was retitled (now called Hurricane) like all the episodes in the first season to prevent potential lawsuits due to copyright infringement.

Review

Wayne:

I'm sorry. I just don't like the hurricane episode. It seemed like a real disappointment. There are some great lines, but there's just too much tension, everyone seems to just be mad at each other, the plot seems really cliche, and I really didn't like the Tamara-Pacey or the Leery affair storyline to begin with. We need some focus on the main characters. (5/10)

Drew:

This is the problem episode. Everything comes out of the closet and whirls around everyone in the frenzy of the storm. Grams's opinion of interracial couples is unleashed, as well as babies born out of wedlock. Mitch finds out that his wife for 20 years is cheating on him. Dawson's obssessiveness of Jen's impuritities becomes more aware to Jen. Is there no end to this list of problems that plagues the quiet citizens of Capeside?

This episode was good, but it wasn't really exciting or anything. Really good parts came from the reactions from both Mitch, and Gail because they were just so pure and simple.

My favourite scene in this episode is when Mitch is outside in the jeep just clearing his head, then Gail goes into the jeep and tries to reconsiliate with him. He starts talking about the first time they met, about how the first time he looked at her, he decided he was in love with her. Then while Gail is in this most captivating moment, he tells her that as fast as he decided he would love her then, he decides to hate her now. Now I know that that is really cruel, but you got to appreciate the style he rejected her with. (6.5/10)
