Goofs

Continuity

  • In the pilot, Pacey learns that his first period English teacher is Tamara. But in Prelude to a Kiss and this episode, he doesn't have it first period. Pacey comes in late to class after the rumor got out, but it was also after Dawson and Pacey were in the broom closet talking. The rumor couldn't have circulated that fast before first period.
  • Pacey states during the proceedings that he sits in the back of Tamara's classroom, but an earlier scene shows him more near the middle.
  • After leaving the courthouse Tamara drives away from Capeside High School instead of the Courthouse.

Timeline

  • Is Pacey stupid? Sure, he checks the bathroom stalls for people, but he does this after talking to Dawson about Tamara.

Incorrect

  • Why is Joey drinking a Diet Coke that early in the morning? That couldn't be a "subtle" plug for Coke, could it?
  • People can drink carbonated beverages all day. True it is a bit suspicious, but still not a goof per se.

  • Tamara does not have a Massachusetts license plate.
  • Tamara is new to town (as established in Emotions in Motion) so she could be from another state. Depending on the laws of Massachusetts she could go as long as 2 years without getting Massachusetts plates.

Notes

  • The teacher-student storyline between Tamara and Pacey was based on an incident that really happened at Kevin Williamson's school. It was brought into the show to boost ratings and the WB actually encouraged riots against the show to get more publicity for the show though none ever occurred.
  • Nina Repeta (Bessie) was not rowing the boat. It was being pulled by a rope.
  • Tamara is right handed.
  • Although this episode was originally titled after the movie Look Who's Talking, it was retitled (now called Hurricane) like all the episodes in the first season to prevent potential lawsuits due to copyright infringement.

Episode Title

Look Who's Talking (1989)

Mollie is a single mom who's on the lookout for a reliable and normal boyfriend. Her son Mikey, (unbeknownst to her) seems to have a better idea of which of the men she dates would make a good father figure! If only she could understand him. (Summary by Murray Chapman)

Review

Wayne:

I'm sorry, but I disliked this episode even more than the last one. I didn't like the Pacey-Tamara storyline or the giving-birth storyline. They both really bored me, maybe because I didn't really care too much about the characters involved. Sorry to you Tamara fans, but I'm glad that she's finally gone. Now maybe we'll see some real interaction between the four main characters and stop with these plotlines which revolve solely around the minor characters. (3/10)

Drew:

This episode's plot was mainly surrounding Bessie's pregnancy which is not the greatest storyline available. One good thing that does come out of it (besides the baby) is that we got to hear Joey's remorse and sadness when Bessie's in labour.

I didn't like the cheesy courtroom thing going on for the Tamara/Pacey plot, because it seems illogical that they would let Tamara get off the hook so easily. But she does look good in a pony tail.

Overall, this was a mediocre episode, but of course, essential because they had to put Bessie in labour someday. (6.5/10)
