Goofs
Appearance
- When Dawson goes over to Joey's house to ask her advice on Billy, we see that Joey and Dawson are wearing the same clothes they were wearing the day before.
- Joey leaves the house for school in the morning without any shoes on and with her hair wet. When she gets to school, however, she's wearing shoes and her hair is dry
- In the morning, when Joey talks to Bessie, her hair is parted in the middle. But then, when she's at school, it is parted on the side.
- When Dawson is talking to Joey about his problems with Jen at in Joey's house, Joey's hair goes from back to front. When we see Dawson face, her hair is at her back; when we see her face her hair is in front. In the last scene where Jen is breaking up with Dawson, if you watch closely, James' hair keeps changing. First there is no hair on his forehead and then the camera switches to Michelle and then back to him, he now has hair on his forehead but then when he's shown later the hair is no longer on his forehead.
Continuity
- Dawson asks Jen if he can walk her to class and she tells him that she will meet him in math in a few minutes. But in the pilot, Jen's schedule showed her with English 2nd period.
- Jen says she was 15 in Carnal Knowledge but is 16 in this episode. Maybe she just had an unannounced birthday.
Timeline
- At the beginning of the episode, Dawson lets Joey sleep at his place because of Alexander's constant crying, which is depriving her of sleep. After the credits, we're shown the morning scene with Dawson's mom and dad talking. Next comes the scene at Joey's house, still the morning before school. Bessie tells Joey, "You look terrible" and Joey then complains that the baby kept her up all night. But there's no way she could have heard the baby unless Alexander has a sonic cry that could be heard across the creek from Dawson's house.
- When Dawson goes over to Joey's house, they're wearing the same clothes from the day before and it appears to be nighttime since her house is lighted and she's reading by the lamp and Alex is asleep. You would assume it's nighttime, but Dawson comments "You know how yesterday, I said everything was fine?" and Joey states, "So, that's who that cute guy was yesterday at school." But when Dawson leaves, it's sunny outside and in the next scene with him and Jen, he has changed clothes.
Technical
- Pacey hands Joey one videotape of The English Patient, but in reality, due to its length, it takes two tapes to view the entire movie.
- New York can't be only 4 hours away, because Avon, MA is 5 hours from New York, and Avon is closer to New York than the Cape.
(Submissions by Lexi and Laura)
Notes
- Ever since Billy made fun of Dawson's ET doll, there has been a Jaws shark on Dawson's bed instead.
- Eion Bailey, who plays Billy, was also in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He played Kyle, one of five students that was possesed by the spirit of a hyena in "The Pack."
- Dawson's computer is on a desk opposite his bed. In the pilot, his computer is in a shelf next to his bed, and it's only a screen.
- Although this episode was originally titled after a movie, it was retitled (now called Boyfriend) like all the episodes in the first season to prevent potential lawsuits due to copyright infringement.

Episode Title

Review
Wayne:
This was a fairly decent episode. We see that Pacey does care about Joey and there are a lot of great scenes and lines shown. At the end, Dawson finally ponders whether Joey could be more than just a friend. But I really hated the Jen/Billy storyline. She can leave for all I care. (6/10)
Drew:
Here we meet the guy who turned Jen into a slut. Hehe, look at Dawson all riled up. Hilarious! I kind of feel sorry for Billy who had to sleep with Duckface. What's the problem? Not enough hot chicks in New York City? (7/10)
